Preview Pokemon Soul Silver Live!

The new Pokemon Soul Silver and Heart Gold don’t come out in the US for a few more months. Wanna see what it’s gonna look like? Each night click on over to that Live Feed tab at the top of the site and you could just catch me playing some Soul Silver! I started the journey last night doing everything up until the first gym. I actually had some viewers, about 15 people at one point. The video was pretty good. It was nice and smooth, although a little small. I was really excited because the emulator (how else was I gonna play the game and broadcats with my PC?) I found had this cool DS skin. The only problem was there was tons of blank space in the video. Not really a big problem and it didn’t bother me at the time, I was just excited to have what I had. Well just after finishing playing I tinkered around all night with some things and I am VERY excited about the outcome now. Now I’ve got the DS like I had before, but a background to go with it so it’s not all empty space and also a nice giant DS stylus cursor just to make things even cooler. You can find a sneak peek at what things are going to look like if you tune in just by looking at the news header image. That’s exactly how things will look… except not chopped off. The header image is a certain size and so I cropped off a bit but you get the idea.

Tune in around midnight, most likely a bit later and you could find me playing. A good way to know if I’m on is to favorite my channel. I broadcast using the website Justin.tv, it’s not all run through this site. Basically if you sign up for the website you will not only be able to chat with me but you can then favorite it. To do that all you’d do is go to the show page by just clicking on the video in the Live Feed tab and it’ll bring you there. Once you’re there and signed up near the bottom left corner of the video you will see a heart with “Add Channel” next it. Click that and you’ll be e-mailed each time I start up a show.

How I’m doing this:
I’m sure you’re wondering how this is possible. Well like I said I use Justin.tv and then I also use some other programs which capture certain parts of my desktop and then place them live on JTV. I think I may have explained all that before. But as for the actual gameplay stuff… basically I’m using an emulator called no$gba. Although I didn’t just go and download that. I found something called WinDS Pro which has a bunch of emulators built in plus skins. That’s how I got it into a DS rather than just two screens one on top of the other. And then the giant stylus comes from a program called CursorFX. And then finally you are probably wondering why Soul Silver is in English, did I somehow get an English rom? Well, kinda. It’s the regular Japanese rom, but I found a patch that someone made that adds a ton of English in. Every now and then I’ve found some Japanese text but it’s mainly for things that aren’t important.

UPDATE:
Check out the first gym battle. It’s a tiny preview so if you’re really interested to see what’s going on I suggest using fullscreen.
