9 Truths about Halo 3: ODST

Websites like IGN, GameSpot, 1Up, and tons of other top review sites all have there hands on Halo 3: ODST. There have been all sorts of articles coming out from them talking about what Bungie will allow them to until the release on September 22. Here are 9 things about ODST that you may or may not know about it already.

1. Better storytelling
While I haven’t heard how much better the story may actually be, all signs say that it is told in a better fashion. Being smaller it is much more straightforward and you don’t need to carry any cliff notes to figure out who that guy is and why what’s happening is happening

2. You’ll find out who the Superintendent is
That little green box with the plunger… I thought he was just some sort of AI in the game, like some sort of security program or something. Guess not, you’ll figure it all out in the game.

3. Story within the story
Some games like to have hidden stories in them, like in Batman with the audio logs of patient interviews. ODST has one that is not only compelling, but unlocks awesome weapon caches around the map.

4.There are no Elites
Why? Well if you can follow the Halo 2 storyline it’s because of the “Great Schism”. Basically the Elites stopped believing what the Prophets were saying, and the rest of the Covenant turned on them. You’ll see lots of dead ones though.

5. You’ll want to watch the credits
Nobody has said exactly why, but there is something worthwhile at the end that could leave the door open for a sequel.

6. Firefight will own you
I think anyone really looking forward to ODST (like myself) has already known this. But it’s nice to know that all the websites that have the game are in love with the mode.

7. Vehicles are in
Not something I questioned too much, but there will be vehicular battles. But everyone seems to be pretty cautious when speaking about it, only saying it’s unlike any other vehicle stage in any Halo game.

8. Skulls are back
Seems like they’re a pretty integral part to the Halo franchise. We all knew they were used in Firefight, but you can use them in campaign as well.

9. You can go helmetless
After doing some unlocking and upgrading of characters, you can actually take off your helmet in firefight mode for everyone except the Rookie.
